In a remarkable medical achievement, a Saudi medical team from the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, operating at the Pulse of Life Center for Heart Diseases and Surgery in Mukalla, successfully performed a unique operation to open the right coronary artery using catheterization on a 57-year-old patient suffering from recurrent chest pains.
The patient underwent exploratory catheterization, which revealed a chronic blockage in the right coronary artery (C.T.O). Due to the challenges associated with traditional methods of opening the artery, the Saudi medical team employed an advanced technique. They approached the blockage through the left coronary artery using a retrograde technique, ultimately succeeding in opening the artery and implanting a drug-eluting stent.
This technique is among the most complex in treating artery blockages, utilizing collateral circulation and boasting a high success rate in managing chronic obstructions, especially after other methods have failed. The Pulse of Life Center for Heart Diseases and Surgery in Mukalla stands out in Yemen for handling such intricate cases with high-level techniques.
This operation marks a significant milestone in heart care within the region, demonstrating the high level of expertise and the advanced medical capabilities available at the Pulse of Life Center. It underscores the center’s commitment to providing cutting-edge treatments for heart disease, enhancing its reputation as a leading facility for complex cardiac procedures in Yemen.
The successful procedure not only highlights the advancements in medical treatments available in the region but also emphasizes the collaborative efforts and the expertise of the Saudi medical team in tackling challenging medical conditions with innovative solutions.
