Minister of Awqaf: Houthi’s sham trials serve as tools for political oppression and societal intimidation.

Houthi Trials: A Tool for Political Repression

Minister’s Strong Condemnation

Dr. Mohammed Shabeeb, Yemen’s Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, has condemned the mock trials conducted by the Houthi militia. He described these trials as instruments of political oppression and intimidation, aimed at silencing dissent within the community.

Violation of Islamic Values

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Minister Shabeeb emphasized that these trials blatantly challenge Islamic values, which prohibit injustice and the shedding of innocent blood. He noted that they represent a new chapter in the ongoing series of crimes and violations committed by the militia against the Yemeni people. The minister asserted that these actions aim to undermine fundamental religious, humanitarian, and ethical principles.

The Ideological Underpinnings

Shabeeb highlighted the ideological and sectarian dimensions of these practices, which stem from a distorted, racist ideology that disregards human life and dignity in the name of authority and superiority. He clarified that the struggle of the Yemeni people against the militia is not merely a political conflict; it is a battle for values, justice, human rights, and dignity. He urged citizens to stand against this tyranny, framing it as a religious, moral, and national obligation.

Call to Action for Society

The minister called on all citizens to promote awareness and community solidarity, rejecting any attempts to justify these crimes or remain silent about them. He urged efforts to support the oppressed. Furthermore, he instructed Awqaf offices, mosque preachers, and religious leaders to dedicate the upcoming Friday sermon and various events to denounce the Houthi death sentences. This initiative aims to expose these sentences as tools of political repression and societal fear during a critical time in the nation’s history.

Conclusion

Dr. Shabeeb’s statements underscore the urgent need for collective action against the injustices perpetrated by the Houthi militia. As Yemen faces these challenges, the call for unity and resistance resonates strongly within the community.
