Minister of Legal Affairs Commits to Strengthening Rule of Law in State Institutions

Maqtari Emphasizes Collaboration for Effective Governance

The Minister of Legal Affairs, Judge Ishraq Maqtari, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the application of law across various state institutions. During a meeting held in Marib, she highlighted the need to address any overlaps in authority among sectors and institutions. This initiative aims to promote good governance principles, ensuring transparency and accountability in line with the government’s program.

Local Cooperation is Key to Success

While presiding over the meeting with local office directors, Maqtari stressed that successful implementation of these efforts requires close collaboration between the ministry and local authorities. She praised Marib for exemplifying the presence of state authority and the rule of law. The province has effectively maintained its institutions and demonstrated resilience against challenges, particularly in countering Houthi militia advances. Additionally, Marib has managed to accommodate a significant number of displaced individuals while simultaneously leading efforts in both defense and development.

Administrative Support for Legal Awareness

The Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs welcomed Maqtari’s visit, commending her efforts to activate legal frameworks within government institutions. He emphasized the urgent need to enhance legal awareness in executive offices and to train personnel in legal matters to improve institutional performance.

Advocating for Legal Training Programs

Abdullah Al-Mousai, the Director of the Legal Affairs Office in Marib, presented the office’s initiatives aimed at improving legal performance within government units. He called for the implementation of training programs for legal staff, particularly in areas related to state litigation and public funds, as well as the activation of disciplinary councils.

Visit to Civil Service Office Highlights Coordination Needs

During her visit to the Civil Service and Social Insurance Office in Marib, Minister Maqtari engaged with Director Saud Al-Yousifi and specialists to discuss workflow and the services provided. She underscored the importance of ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Civil Service to enhance institutional performance and achieve shared goals effectively.

This commitment to strengthening the rule of law and improving governance reflects the government’s dedication to fostering a transparent and accountable state.
