On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, contacted Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan. This call aimed to check on Shamsan’s safety following an armed ambush that targeted his convoy alongside the commander of the Al-Maqatirah Axis. The attack resulted in the tragic deaths of several escorts and left others injured.
During the call, President Alimi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He prayed for the souls of the deceased, asking for divine mercy, and wished for a swift recovery for the injured. His empathy highlights the ongoing challenges faced by officials in conflict-affected areas.
In response to the attack, President Alimi directed the Minister of Defense, who also serves as the head of the Supreme Security Committee, to take immediate action. He emphasized the need to apprehend the perpetrators and establish a committee comprising security and military personnel. This committee will conduct a thorough investigation into the motives and background of the assault, with a report expected promptly.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Yemen, particularly in regions like Taiz. The government’s swift response aims to restore safety and accountability in the area. As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
