The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology has issued a warning regarding extreme heat conditions across coastal and desert regions of Yemen. The forecast also predicts varying intensities of thunderstorms in mountainous areas, alongside turbulent sea conditions along several Yemeni coastlines.
The weather in the coastal regions and adjacent inland areas is expected to be hot and humid, with temperatures rising significantly. Conditions will range from clear to partly cloudy, with a possibility of fog formation and scattered rain in parts of the eastern and western coastlines and their neighboring regions. Winds will remain moderate to active, while strong winds will affect the Socotra Archipelago.
In the mountainous areas, expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of thunderstorms. Rainfall may occur from Saada in the north down to Taiz, Lahij, and Dhale in the south, extending eastward to Al-Bayda, Abyan, Shabwa, and Hadramout.
The desert and plateau regions will experience dry conditions with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will exceed 40°C, and moderate winds will intensify during the day, stirring up dust and sand.
The meteorological center urges residents in desert and coastal areas to take precautions against extreme heat and high humidity. Individuals should avoid direct sun exposure. Additionally, those in areas prone to rain should steer clear of flood-prone areas and thunderstorms. Fishermen and boat operators are advised to exercise caution due to rough sea conditions and strong winds in the waters surrounding Socotra, Al-Mahra, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
