Islamic Cooperation condemns Israel’s ongoing colonial settlement policy and seizure of Palestinian lands and heritage sites.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the ongoing colonial settlement policies of the Israeli occupation, which involve the confiscation of thousands of dunams of Palestinian land. This condemnation comes in the wake of Israel’s recent seizure of heritage sites in the village of Sebastia, located in the Nablus Governorate.
The OIC stated that these actions are part of a racist policy pursued by the Israeli occupation against hundreds of archaeological, historical, scientific sites, and religious sanctuaries in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. This policy aims to obliterate, plunder, falsify, and destroy the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Palestinian people, constituting a flagrant violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its protocols.
The organization has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to swiftly act to protect both tangible and intangible cultural properties in the occupied Palestinian territories.
