Houthi Militias Intensify Abductions Amid September 26th Celebrations in Ibb
The Houthi militia continues its aggressive campaign against individuals celebrating the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution in Ibb Governorate. This crackdown persists despite the fact that a week has passed since the significant date.
Recent Abductions Highlight Targeted Actions
Local sources indicate that the Houthi militia launched a new wave of abductions over the past few days in several districts, including Al-Sadda, Al-Sayani, Al-Mukhader, and Yarim. Reports confirm that 41 individuals, primarily children under the age of 18, fell victim to these kidnappings. The militia based its actions on informants, video footage, and images that documented the public celebrations of the revolution.
The militia specifically abducted 20 individuals from the villages of Bani Shamsan in the Al-Suhul district of Al-Mukhader. Additionally, they took 10 children from the village of Dhay Salal in the Wadi Hajjaj area of Al-Sadda, 6 individuals from the village of Talifa in the Al-Arabiyin district of Al-Sayani, and 5 more from the Yarim district.
A Worsening Situation Since Early September
Since the beginning of September, the Houthi militia has kidnapped hundreds of residents in Ibb, responding to the celebrations marking the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution. The frequency of these abductions has escalated significantly, particularly as the celebrations commenced late last week and continue to this day.
This ongoing situation raises serious concerns about the safety of individuals in the region, especially children, and highlights the oppressive tactics employed by the Houthi militia against those expressing their political and cultural identity.
