In a recent escalation, the Houthi militia has launched extensive campaigns to subject teachers in the city of Ibb to mandatory sectarian courses. This move follows the abduction of educators directly from their schools.
Educational sources have reported that, in recent days, the Houthi militia has unexpectedly kidnapped dozens of teachers from various schools. These educators were then transported to undisclosed locations, with some reportedly taken outside the province.
Families of the missing teachers have filed reports regarding their disappearance during working hours. School administrations have responded by stating that the militia has enrolled these teachers in so-called “cultural” courses. However, both the school administrations and the militia have refused to disclose the locations or the duration of these courses, leaving families in a state of fear and anxiety over the fate of their loved ones.
The Houthi militia imposes these indoctrination courses on state employees across various sectors in areas under their control. Employees face threats of job termination or abduction if they refuse to participate. This strategy aims to disseminate the militia’s sectarian ideologies.
