In a heartbreaking event today, four children lost their lives due to an explosion caused by an unexploded ordnance left by the Iran-backed Houthi militia. The incident occurred in the Al-Habil area of the Taiz district, located north of the city.
Local sources reported to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the children were playing near a site in the region when they discovered an unexploded shell. This dangerous remnant of war, planted by the Houthi militia, posed a significant risk. Tragically, while attempting to play with the shell, it detonated, resulting in the deaths of four young boys: Yasser Ali Ahmed Al-Sharabi, 14; Osama Abu Bakr Ahmed, 12; Bashir Akram Mohammed Al-Fadhli; and Anas Jawad Mohammed Saleh.
This incident highlights the ongoing dangers posed by unexploded ordnance in conflict zones. The presence of such remnants continues to threaten the lives of innocent civilians, particularly children who may not recognize the risks involved.
The loss of these young lives serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of war on communities. As the situation in Yemen remains precarious, calls for increased awareness and safety measures around unexploded ordnance are more urgent than ever.
