The Houthi militia has escalated its campaign of severe human rights violations against citizens in Ibb Governorate, located in central Yemen. Recent reports from human rights sources indicate that over 35 individuals remain abducted in militia-controlled prisons. These abductions stem from the victims’ participation in celebrations marking the 26th of September Revolution.
Sources confirm that these abductions, which have persisted for more than three months, form part of a systematic crackdown initiated by the militia ahead of the revolution’s anniversary. The campaign peaked on September 26, affecting hundreds of citizens in Ibb and other areas under militia control.
Some of the abducted individuals have reportedly been transferred to the capital, Sana’a. This move appears designed to intensify the suffering of families and exert additional psychological pressure. Such tactics reflect the militia’s broader strategy of intimidation against dissenters.
These violations occur within a context of a systematic policy to suppress public freedoms and prevent any expressions of national pride. The militia aims to erase the national and historical identity of Yemenis. Meanwhile, the international community remains alarmingly silent regarding the plight of civilians in militia-controlled regions.
The situation in Ibb highlights the urgent need for global attention and action to protect human rights in Yemen.
