A supervisor from the Houthi militia has kidnapped an 11-year-old boy and placed him in one of the militia’s prisons in the northern province of Amran, Yemen.
Local sources report that the Houthi security supervisor, identified as Abdulqader Ghazi Haider (Abu Rabish), abducted the boy, Rasheed Fathi Saleh Al-Maliki, from the village of Al-Far’a in the Bani Sarim district. This incident occurred yesterday, and the supervisor detained the child in the district’s security administration without any legal justification.
Sources indicate that this is not the first incident involving the supervisor. Four months ago, he allegedly assaulted the boy inside the village mosque, resulting in injuries that required medical attention at Al-Salam Hospital in Khameer. The supervisor accused the child of breaking a window in his home while playing with other neighborhood children.
This kidnapping follows a recent incident in which Houthi militants shot a child from the Dhuhqar tribe in the Al-Suwair district. Such acts are part of a troubling pattern of widespread violations committed by the militia against civilians in the province.
The situation in Amran highlights the ongoing challenges faced by children and families in Yemen, as violence and intimidation continue to disrupt their lives. The international community must take notice of these violations and advocate for the protection of innocent civilians.
