Governor of Taiz Prioritizes Completion of Liberation Efforts

Governor Nabil Shamsan of Taiz has emphasized that completing the liberation process remains a primary focus for the local authority. Alongside this, he highlighted the importance of resource development, enhancing security and stability, and implementing transparency and anti-corruption measures. The governor also stressed the need to advance the economic and social development plan for the province.

Key Meeting Highlights

During a comprehensive meeting attended by various officials, including Deputy Governor Dr. Abdul Qawi Al-Makhlafi, military leaders, and representatives from political parties and international organizations, Governor Shamsan stated that the completion of the liberation battle is crucial. He noted that once the Houthi militias are eliminated, the province will experience growth in development, investment, job creation, and improved services. He praised the efforts and resilience of the heroes on the front lines and commended the security forces for maintaining peace and stability.

Unity Among Political and Economic Entities

The governor underscored the significance of unity among all political, economic, and youth groups to strengthen national solidarity and defend the province. He pointed out the progress in institutional performance and accountability measures through the Ministry of Finance and the Central Organization for Control and Auditing. He called on everyone to contribute to transparency and oversight, urging access to reports, data, and statistics regarding local authority performance, resources, expenditures, and project implementation by both the province and international organizations.

Financial Overview and Development Plans

Governor Shamsan reviewed the revenue and expenditure figures, highlighting key projects and addressing teachers’ demands. He stressed the importance of the economic and social development plan for the province, aiming for sustainable development and recovery from the damages inflicted on infrastructure due to the war instigated by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias.

Resource Development and Financial Oversight

Deputy Governor for Financial Affairs and Resource Development, Khaled Abdul Jalil, outlined the stages and procedures for resource development, revenue collection oversight, and expenditure processes. He emphasized the need for legal action against any violations affecting public funds and discussed expenditure allocations in the investment program based on priorities. He also highlighted the support for the military, security, and health sectors amid the absence of central government support.

Detailed Financial Report

Dr. Mohammed Al-Samahi, Director of the Finance Office, presented a detailed report on resource levels from 2018 to 2024, including expenditure and compliance with spending procedures. He noted that resources reached the Central Bank through 19 departments and 54 divisions across 23 branches, evaluating expenditure operations according to the law and the Central Organization for Control and Auditing. He reported significant increases in resource levels in recent years, confirming the success of oversight measures to protect public funds and combat corruption.

Development Planning and Future Goals

The Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office provided a detailed report on the stages of preparing the economic and social development plan, its pillars, and the criteria for selecting the province for implementing the economic framework for sustainable development. He outlined the project matrix, priorities, and objectives for 2025.

Local Resource Indicators and Inflation Impact

Mahioub Al-Habishi, Director of Development, presented indicators on local, central, and joint resources and expenditures across offices and districts from 2028 to 2024, discussing the impact of inflation on provincial resources.

Health and Social Services Update

Abdul Ali, Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, along with Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sabri, Director of Public Health and Population, reviewed performance indicators for 2024. They highlighted improvements in infrastructure and health services, along with presentations from several international organizations.

This meeting reflects the commitment of Taiz’s local authority to prioritize development, transparency, and the completion of liberation efforts, aiming for a brighter future for the province.
