During a meeting in Aden, he engaged with local leadership, executive officials, and representatives from the local water and sanitation authority, as well as the Social Fund for Development. They discussed the developmental needs of the water sector in the governorate.
Strengthening Local Initiatives
Governor Lamlas emphasized the local government’s serious approach to enhancing these projects. He highlighted the importance of local support, partnerships with the private sector, and contributions from international allies. Key Strategic Projects Discussed
The meeting also covered several strategic initiatives in water and sanitation. Notably, they discussed the construction of a new iron ground tank to boost the storage capacity of the Al-Barzakh station. This station supplies water to the districts of Sirah, Khour Maksar, Al-Mualla, and Tawahi. The Dutch government, through the Social Fund for Development, funds this project.
Additionally, they reviewed the rehabilitation of the water lifting station at Al-Barzakh – Khour Maksar. This project, financed by both the Dutch and German governments, has a budget of approximately 4 million euros. It includes the construction of an 18,000 cubic meter water tank, the rehabilitation of an existing 20,000 cubic meter tank, and the installation of chlorination stations to ensure water safety.
