In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Salem Al-Wali, engaged with the Indian Ambassador to Yemen, Suhail Ijaz Khan. The two officials explored ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between their nations.

Emphasizing Trade Exchange

During the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of increasing trade exchange. They highlighted the need to facilitate cooperation among business leaders from both countries. Al-Wali stressed the commitment to providing all necessary support to enhance economic ties.

Opening a Commercial Office

Al-Wali also advocated for the establishment of an Indian commercial office in Aden. This initiative would streamline communication and bolster trade collaboration, ultimately benefiting both nations. He emphasized the necessity of creating a conducive environment for investors and entrepreneurs.

Government Commitment to Economic Development

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving the trade balance between Yemen and India. He expressed a desire to leverage India’s advanced industries and expertise to foster sustainable strategic partnerships that contribute to economic development. Al-Wali praised India’s substantial support across various sectors in Yemen.

Indian Government’s Support Initiatives

In response, Ambassador Khan confirmed that the Indian government is committed to providing essential support and enhancing bilateral relations. Recently, India arranged a shipment of medicines and medical equipment to assist Yemen’s Ministry of Health. He also noted the Indian government’s efforts to facilitate opportunities for Yemeni traders and entrepreneurs, including organizing regular exhibitions.

This meeting marks a pivotal step in reinforcing the economic partnership between Yemen and India, aiming for mutual growth and development.
