On Thursday, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Thomas Schneider, the German Ambassador to Yemen. They discussed the latest developments in Yemen, efforts to stabilize the country, and opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation between Yemen and Germany.
During their meeting, Al-Alimi and Schneider addressed various political, security, and economic issues. They focused on strengthening state institutions, improving living conditions, and alleviating humanitarian suffering in liberated provinces. The discussions also highlighted the importance of supporting recovery efforts and enhancing the capacity of state institutions to fulfill their responsibilities.
Dr. Al-Alimi stressed that the current phase requires a balanced approach to managing challenges. He emphasized the need to strengthen state institutions, prevent political and security vacuums, and unify decision-making. He pointed out that recent events in southern provinces represent a correction of the course and a restoration of the state and its institutions, rather than a victory for one party over another.
Al-Alimi underscored the significance of national unity and responsible dialogue to address national issues. He praised Saudi Arabia for hosting the Southern Dialogue Conference, which serves as an inclusive platform for the southern cause. This initiative aims to involve various southern components and figures without exclusion, ultimately leading to a fair vision within a comprehensive political solution.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the Kingdom’s recent announcement of an economic and developmental aid package worth 1.9 billion Saudi Riyals, which reflects its commitment to stabilizing Yemen and strengthening its state institutions.
Al-Alimi also acknowledged Germany’s positive role in supporting Yemen and its constitutional legitimacy. He commended Germany’s assistance in peace efforts, as well as its contributions to humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
In response, Ambassador Schneider reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. He reiterated Germany’s dedication to promoting Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
This meeting underscores the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and Germany, as both nations work towards stability and peace in the region.
