The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has documented 2,264 crimes and violations committed by Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, against civilians and civilian objects in Taiz Governorate from September 1 to October 29, 2026. During this 59-day period, the militias launched approximately 12,761 projectiles indiscriminately.
The report, titled “Taiz: Between Killing and Siege,” revealed that 189 civilians lost their lives, including 38 children and 27 women. Additionally, 281 civilians sustained injuries, with 29 children and 46 women among the wounded. The report also recorded 134 cases of assault involving children, women, and the elderly.
The report identified 23 cases of field executions and five mass killings. Furthermore, it documented 324 instances of kidnapping and enforced disappearance, which included children, women, and the elderly. The militias raided 521 homes, forcibly entering and searching 81 residences while tampering with their contents.
In terms of material damage, the network reported that 356 residential homes suffered damage, with 98 completely destroyed. The report noted the detonation of four homes, damage to 151 civilian vehicles, and the looting of 36 private transport vehicles.
The report also highlighted the occupation of 23 schools, which were converted into military barracks and command centers. Additionally, 31 farms were looted, and six farms were partially or completely destroyed. Seven mosques and places of worship experienced damage, and 35 government facilities were seized.
The report indicated that five ambulances were targeted, resulting in the deaths of seven medical personnel. Three healthcare facilities and hospitals also faced attacks, leading to the closure of 23 commercial centers and five health facilities. Moreover, over 15 ambulances were looted and repurposed for transporting ammunition and weapons.
The Houthi militias launched around 12,761 random projectiles, including mortar shells, artillery, and Katyusha rockets. They also conducted drone attacks and fired dozens of ballistic missiles, primarily targeting residential neighborhoods and gatherings.
The network observed the establishment of 26 illegal checkpoints since the intensification of the blockade on Taiz on September 3, 2026. They cut off main and secondary roads, preventing the delivery of food, medical supplies, fuel, and drinking water. This blockade has endangered nearly two million people, forcing them to rely on contaminated water sources.
The report confirmed that the military escalation and blockade have led to the displacement of approximately 280,000 people from Taiz, fleeing from bombardments and violations. It warned of the ongoing humanitarian and health deterioration, exacerbating the suffering of the population.
