Council member Aidarus al-Zubaidi meets with Djibouti ambassador to coordinate joint efforts for securing international shipping routes.

Meeting Between Yemeni Leadership and Djibouti Ambassador

Today, Major General Aidarus al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Djibouti’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Diaa al-Din Bamekhrama. The two officials met to discuss enhancing security cooperation between Yemen and Djibouti, focusing on maintaining international peace and combating maritime piracy. They emphasized the importance of protecting international navigation in strategic waterways.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

During the meeting, General al-Zubaidi expressed his warm welcome to Ambassador Bamekhrama. He praised the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Yemen and Djibouti. Al-Zubaidi highlighted the need to strengthen these historical ties to benefit both nations.

Addressing Regional Challenges

The discussions also covered the current humanitarian and political situation in Yemen, particularly amid the rapid developments in the region and the ongoing escalation of Houthi militia activities. These activities threaten international maritime routes in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.

Djibouti’s Role in Regional Security

General al-Zubaidi underscored Djibouti’s significant role in coordinating joint positions among Red Sea and Gulf of Aden countries. He stressed the necessity of securing international shipping lanes and fostering cooperation between Arab and African nations in the region.

Humanitarian Support for Yemeni Displaced Persons

Moreover, General al-Zubaidi commended Djibouti for its substantial humanitarian efforts in hosting Yemeni displaced persons. He expressed gratitude to the Djiboutian government and its people for their ongoing support in alleviating the suffering of those displaced, especially during these challenging times.

Djibouti’s Continued Support

In response, Ambassador Bamekhrama reaffirmed Djibouti’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council. He expressed readiness to provide all necessary assistance to restore stability in Yemen and promote peace throughout the region.

This meeting highlights the collaborative efforts of Yemen and Djibouti to address pressing security and humanitarian challenges, reinforcing their commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
