Coast Guard Rescues 20 Passengers from Disabled Boat Off Al-Mahra Coast

In the early hours of Sunday, Yemeni Coast Guard teams successfully rescued 20 passengers stranded on a disabled boat off the coast of Al-Mahra. This operation followed hours of extensive search and maritime patrols, allowing the forces to reach the disabled vessel.

Details of the Rescue Operation

According to maritime and military sources, the Coast Guard, supported by units from the National Shield Forces, located the disabled boat named “Sultan Marina.” The vessel was carrying passengers traveling from the Socotra Archipelago, approximately 60 nautical miles between Qishn Coast and Nishtun Port.

Safe Evacuation of Passengers

Sources confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated and transferred to a ship departing from Nishtun Port. Authorities stated that the disabled boat would undergo towing operations to the shore. Remarkably, all passengers remained unharmed, with no injuries reported.

Distress Call and Sea Conditions

On Saturday evening, the Coast Guard received a distress call indicating that the boat experienced a sudden malfunction during its journey from Socotra to Al-Mahra, about 64 nautical miles from Nishtun Port. The Coast Guard emphasized that search and rescue teams continued their efforts despite challenging sea conditions, including strong winds and high waves, until they secured the safety of everyone on board.
