Aden Hosts Bilateral Talks
In a significant meeting held in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital, Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries Minister, Major General Salem Al-Saqtari, engaged with the Acting Chinese Ambassador to Yemen, Zhao Cheng. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
Exploring New Opportunities
Both parties deliberated on the possibility of activating cooperation protocols between the two friendly nations. They aimed to address challenges to facilitate the entry of Yemeni agricultural and fishery products into the Chinese market. Historically, China has been one of the largest importers of Yemeni goods, including crops, fish, coffee, and honey, attributed to their globally recognized quality. Major General Al-Saqtari appreciated China’s support in these sectors and expressed hope for continued assistance within the framework of mutual cooperation to serve shared interests.
Commendation and Support
Al-Saqtari lauded China’s efforts in supporting peace initiatives in Yemen, affirming the government’s unwavering stance on promoting peace and ending the Houthi militia’s insurgency. On his part, the Acting Chinese Ambassador pledged to intensify efforts to support Yemen, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of both countries and peoples, who share a strong historical relationship.
This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of Yemen and China to strengthen their bilateral relations, particularly in the realms of agriculture and fisheries, which are vital for Yemen’s economy and the well-being of its people.
