Aden International Airport welcomes its first African Express flight.

Aden International Airport Welcomes First African Express Flight After Years of Hiatus

Resuming Vital Air Links

In a significant development marking the resumption of crucial air connectivity, Aden International Airport today welcomed the first flight from African Express, reigniting the Aden-Mogadishu-Nairobi route after several years of suspension. This move underscores the importance of re-establishing this air link, which promises to facilitate the movement of Yemenis and boost commercial activity between Yemen and the countries of the Horn of Africa.

Mohammed Nasser, the Deputy of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, highlighted the significance of this resumption. He noted that the flights, scheduled twice a week, are a crucial step towards enhancing mobility and trade between these regions.

Aden Airport’s Preparedness

Abdulraqeeb Al-Omari, the General Director of Aden International Airport, assured that the airport is fully prepared and ready to receive all flights and airlines. He expressed enthusiasm about the return of African Express flights, signaling a positive outlook for the airport’s operations and its capacity to handle international traffic.

Bolstering Bilateral Relations

The Somali Ambassador to Yemen, Abdullah Hashi, pointed out the positive impact of reinstating the flight route between Aden and Mogadishu. He emphasized that this move would ease the travel process for passengers between the two brotherly nations, further strengthening the deep historical ties that bind them.

This development not only enhances connectivity but also symbolizes the strengthening of diplomatic and commercial relationships between Yemen, Somalia, and Kenya. The resumed service by African Express is a testament to the growing importance of regional air travel in fostering economic growth and cultural exchange among the nations of the Horn of Africa and beyond.
