Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, Thomas Schneider. They discussed the latest developments in Yemen’s military and political landscape, focusing on efforts to restore state institutions and end the Houthi coup.
The two sides engaged in a virtual meeting to discuss the “Dawn of Yemen” operation. This initiative aims to restore state institutions and halt the repeated Houthi attacks on civilians. Additionally, they addressed the threats posed by terrorist militias to the security and safety of international navigation.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of Southern-Southern dialogue in supporting the peace process and enhancing national consensus. They acknowledged the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate government, both politically and security-wise. Their collaboration aims to end the crisis and achieve peace.
Al-Khanbashi expressed appreciation for Germany’s position and its supportive role in peace and stability efforts in Yemen. He recognized the European Union’s contributions in backing the legitimate government and supporting the Yemeni people’s aspirations to restore state institutions and build peace.
In response, Ambassador Schneider reaffirmed the European Union’s support for the legitimate government and its efforts to restore state institutions. He reiterated Germany’s and the European Union’s commitment to the peace process and their dedication to enhancing stability in Yemen and the region.
