Dr. Abdullah Alimi Meets U.S. Ambassador to Yemen

Dr. Abdullah Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin today. The two discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the ongoing efforts to achieve peace in the region.

Congratulations on U.S. Elections

During the meeting, Dr. Alimi congratulated Ambassador Fagin and the American people on the election of President Donald Trump for two non-consecutive terms. He highlighted this event as a testament to the strength of the democratic process in the United States. Dr. Alimi noted the desire of both the American public and people worldwide for meaningful change. He emphasized the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to work seriously and positively with the new administration. Their goal is to enhance cooperation that benefits both nations and to address the challenges posed by the Houthi militia, which is backed by the Iranian regime.

Call for Peace in Gaza

Dr. Alimi reiterated that the true test of the U.S. administration’s commitment to the region and Islamic peoples begins with an end to the war in Gaza. He called for the initiation of a comprehensive peace process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Addressing Economic Challenges in Yemen

Dr. Alimi also reviewed the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in tackling the significant economic, humanitarian, and service-related challenges faced by the Yemeni people. He stressed the importance of supporting the government to fulfill its commitments across various sectors, including maintaining the stability of the national currency. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

U.S. Support for Yemen

In response, Ambassador Fagin affirmed the United States’ support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in addressing various challenges. He also reiterated the U.S. commitment to all initiatives aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability in Yemen.
