Minister of Justice Discusses Forensic Collaboration with Red Cross

Meeting Highlights Cooperation Efforts

Today, Minister of Justice Judge Badr Al-Aradah met with Elisia Bertelli, the Protection Coordinator for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen, and forensic specialist Janash Acharya. The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the ICRC in the field of forensic science.

Forensic Support Initiatives

During the meeting, both parties addressed the ICRC’s interventions in forensic science. They highlighted the importance of supporting training and capacity-building initiatives for the staff at the National Forensic Center. Additionally, they discussed the provision of essential supplies to improve forensic operations.

Importance of Forensic Science in Justice

Minister Al-Aradah emphasized the critical role of forensic science in strengthening the judicial system. He noted that forensic analysis aids in uncovering the circumstances surrounding various crimes by examining samples, analyzing evidence, and diagnosing causes of death in specific cases presented to forensic experts.

Commitment to Sustainable Forensic Solutions

The Minister reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to developing a sustainable and effective system for addressing forensic medical issues. He pointed out ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of operations at the National Forensic Center, ensuring that workflows improve over time.

ICRC’s Humanitarian Services

In response, Elisia Bertelli outlined the ICRC’s key services, particularly in humanitarian assistance and forensic science. She affirmed the organization’s commitment to cooperation and coordination to implement relevant programs and projects.

This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening forensic capabilities in Yemen, ultimately benefiting the justice system and the broader community.
