Yemen Participates in Third Conference of Education Ministers of the Islamic World

Today, Yemen took part in the third session of the Conference of Education Ministers organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in the Omani capital of Muscat. The Yemeni delegation was led by Minister of Education, Tarek Al-Akbari.

Impact of Crises on Education Systems

During the session, Minister Al-Akbari addressed the significant impact of political, economic, and health crises on education systems across various countries. He emphasized the urgent need for strategies that help nations adapt to rapid changes. Al-Akbari provided an overview of Yemen’s educational landscape, highlighting the severe damage inflicted on educational infrastructure due to the Houthi militia’s takeover. This situation has resulted in what he described as the worst educational crisis in contemporary Yemen, leading to the closure of schools and denying millions of children their right to education.

Diplomatic Representation at the Conference

Dr. Khaled bin Shateef, Yemen’s ambassador to Oman, also participated in the conference, reinforcing Yemen’s commitment to addressing educational challenges on an international platform.

The participation in this conference underscores Yemen’s dedication to enhancing educational outcomes despite ongoing challenges. The discussions aim to foster collaboration among member states to improve educational systems and ensure that all children have access to quality education.
