Yemen Participates in 17th International Forum on Food and Agriculture

Today, the Republic of Yemen joined the 17th International Forum on Food and Agriculture held in Germany. The delegation, led by Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Al-Saqtri, aims to address crucial issues related to food security and sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Themes of the Forum

Over two days, the forum will gather prominent government and community figures from Germany and the European Union. Participants will discuss several topics centered on sustainable bioeconomy, a critical factor in achieving food security. The discussions will also focus on adapting to climate change and managing water and land resources sustainably. Ultimately, these efforts aim to foster stability across various regions of the world.

Minister Al-Saqtri’s Engagement

Minister Al-Saqtri will actively participate in the 17th International Ministerial Meeting dedicated to sustainable bioeconomy. Additionally, he will attend the third sub-forum meeting on promoting innovation and enhancing communication in sustainable bioeconomy agriculture.

Bilateral Meetings and Support for Yemen

During the forum, Al-Saqtri plans to hold side meetings with officials from Germany’s Ministry of Economic Development and the International Food and Agriculture Program. These discussions will center on bilateral relations and the support offered to Yemen in developing its agricultural and fisheries sectors. Key topics will include funding for the rehabilitation of the fishing port in Aden and engaging with international and UN officials to explore funding opportunities for enhancing livelihoods in agriculture and fisheries.

Yemen’s participation in this international forum highlights its commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and food security. The discussions and collaborations formed during this event could significantly benefit Yemen’s agricultural development efforts.
