The Republic of Yemen participated today in the Ninth World Conference on Fatwa, organized by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide in Cairo, Egypt. The delegation was led by the Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Dr. Mohammed Shabibah.
In his speech at the conference, Minister Shabibah emphasized that artificial intelligence has become one of the most significant technological advancements, offering new opportunities and facilitating communication between human societies. It has also contributed to the development of medical and technical fields and enhanced the efficiency of the workforce. However, he cautioned against the rapid evolution of this technology and its potential impact on ethical values, human roles in society, and the preservation of communities’ identities and cultures.
Minister Shabibah pointed out that despite the numerous benefits of artificial intelligence, it poses a threat to human presence in certain fields and negatively affects marginalized groups and communities less capable of adapting to this advancement.
The Minister stressed the importance of establishing a clear vision and legal frameworks based on the values and fair principles of Islam. These frameworks should maximize the benefits of the artificial intelligence revolution without compromising human and ethical values. He affirmed the necessity for the Ninth World Conference on Fatwa to be a first step towards promoting this approach and hoped its outcomes would protect and empower societies, ensuring a better future for coming generations.
