The Republic of Yemen actively participated in the Fifth International Mining Conference today. This significant event, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, featured a delegation led by Yemen’s Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi.
Over the course of two days, the conference gathered representatives from more than 160 countries. Attendees included ministers of mining and energy, senior officials, decision-makers, and leaders from global companies. The discussions focused on developing the mining sector and enhancing international cooperation in investment, financing, exploration, and mineral supply chains, all while adhering to best practices in sustainable mining.
During a ministerial roundtable session, Minister Al-Shamasi emphasized Yemen’s participation as part of the Ministry of Oil and Minerals’ vision. He highlighted the political leadership’s and the government’s commitment to encouraging investment in the mining sector. The goal is to revitalize this vital industry and ensure the optimal and sustainable use of mineral resources, which will support the national economy.
Minister Al-Shamasi reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to providing all necessary facilities and incentives for specialized global companies. He pointed out Yemen’s rich potential in mining, particularly in valuable metallic minerals such as gold, silver, copper, and rare earth elements.
The Minister stressed the importance of leveraging the expertise of friendly and allied nations. He called for enhancing technical partnerships to intensify advanced exploration activities, knowledge exchange, and the transfer of modern technologies in the mining sector. Al-Shamasi noted that the conference serves as a crucial international platform for fostering cooperation, building strategic partnerships, and opening new investment avenues. He urged major international companies to seize the investment opportunities available in Yemen.
