Engaging Youth in Peace and Security

In a significant gathering held on the sidelines of the high-level International Forum on Youth, Peace, and Security, the Republic of Yemen marked its presence today in Amman, Jordan. The extraordinary session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers saw a delegation led by Yemen’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayif Al-Bakri.

The meeting, graced by the presence of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and Assistant Secretary-General Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, alongside the Executive Office President of the Council and Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, delved into the pivotal role of youth in bolstering peace and security. Discussions aimed at enhancing communication, reinforcing Arab identity, and fostering a sense of belonging were at the forefront.

Strategic Planning for Youth Engagement

Participants reviewed the general priorities within the execution plan of the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace, and Security for the years 2023-2028. The meeting focused on mechanisms to enhance young people’s involvement in peace and security matters, highlighting the strategic approach towards empowering the youth in the Arab region.

This session underscores the commitment of Arab nations to integrate the younger generation into the peacebuilding process and security discussions, reflecting a collective effort to address the challenges facing the region through youth empowerment and engagement.

The involvement of Yemen in this meeting not only signifies its dedication to the Arab youth and sports agenda but also positions it as an active participant in regional efforts to ensure peace and security through strategic youth engagement.
