Today, the Republic of Yemen actively participated in the 11th Ministerial Meeting on Standardization, conducted via video conference. The Yemeni delegation, led by Minister of Industry and Trade Dr. Mohammed Al-Ashwal, engaged in productive discussions with fellow ministers and heads of standardization authorities from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
The meeting addressed several critical agenda items, including a comprehensive report presented by the Chairman of the Gulf Standardization Authority. This report detailed the organization’s activities from October 2025 to March 2026. Participants also focused on enhancing the standardization system and promoting technical integration among member countries, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in these areas.
In his remarks, Minister Al-Ashwal expressed Yemen’s endorsement of Jabr bin Mohammed Al-Naimi from Qatar to continue serving as the Chairman of the Standardization Authority until April 27, 2027. He highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration to improve the efficiency of the standardization system, which is essential for economic and industrial development in the region.
Moreover, Minister Al-Ashwal reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to the security and stability of the Gulf Arab states, condemning any hostile actions that threaten the sovereignty and safety of these nations and their populations.
The meeting concluded with the approval of 13 new Gulf technical regulations, alongside the withdrawal of 11 existing regulations. Participants also ratified the final accounts of the Standardization Authority for the fiscal year 2025. Several decisions aimed at enhancing the Gulf standardization system and improving coordination in technical regulations and standards were adopted, further solidifying the collaborative efforts among member states.
This meeting highlights Yemen’s dedication to fostering regional cooperation and enhancing standardization efforts, which are crucial for the economic growth of the Gulf region.
