The Republic of Yemen signed a cultural exchange agreement with the Republic of Iraq today in Baghdad. This agreement will span from 2025 to 2028, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations.
Dr. Khalid Al-Wasabi, Yemen’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training, represented Yemen in the signing. Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, signed on behalf of Iraq. Their collaboration underscores a commitment to fostering educational and cultural ties between the two nations.
The agreement aims to strengthen cultural exchange between Yemen and Iraq. It includes provisions for scholarships for Yemeni students and facilitates opportunities for them to study in Iraq. This initiative seeks to enhance educational access and promote cultural understanding.
During a joint press conference, Minister Al-Wasabi praised the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education for its efforts in attracting international students. He emphasized the positive environment that Iraq offers for cultural exchange and educational collaboration.
In response, Minister Al-Aboudi highlighted the deep cultural ties between the two countries. He noted that this agreement would open new avenues for cooperation, including scholarship opportunities across various disciplines through the “Study in Iraq” platform. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of exchanging expertise and training programs.
The signing of this cultural exchange agreement represents a promising development in Yemen-Iraq relations. By facilitating educational opportunities and cultural exchange, both countries aim to strengthen their partnership and enrich the experiences of their students.
