Houthi Militia Kidnaps University Student in Ibb

On Saturday morning, the Houthi militia kidnapped university student Ashraf Taher Al-Dharasi as he headed to the Information Technology College at Ibb University. Local sources, including journalist Mohammed Al-Ghabari, reported that the militia took him to an unknown location.

Incident Details

  • Al-Dharasi was on his way to university when a group of armed men, suspected to belong to Houthi intelligence, intercepted him.
  • The assailants forced Al-Dharasi into a gold-colored Hyundai Accent without license plates.
  • Witnesses stated that the incident occurred in broad daylight and caught everyone off guard, with no official intervention.

Ongoing Violations Against Students

This incident highlights a troubling trend of violations against students and academics in Houthi-controlled areas. The militia employs intimidation tactics and arbitrary arrests to stifle educational freedoms and impose strict security oversight on the youth.

The situation continues to escalate, raising concerns about the safety and rights of students in the region.
