In a recent statement, a senior United Nations official has shed light on the dire humanitarian situation faced by Palestinians in Gaza. During the opening session of the 162nd Arab League Council at the ministerial level, held at the Arab League’s headquarters, the UN’s Deputy Secretary-General and Senior Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza emphasized the inhumane conditions and indescribable suffering of the people in the region.
The official, addressing Arab foreign ministers, pointed out the significant humanitarian suffering in the Middle East, particularly due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The region is grappling with war, destruction, and shortages of food and medicine. She highlighted that a recent United Nations Security Council decision aims to open pathways for humanitarian and health assistance to the people of Gaza.
