Houthi militia launches abduction campaign in martyr Ali Abdulmughni’s hometown to prevent revolution anniversary celebrations.

Houthi Militia Launches Kidnapping Campaign to Suppress Celebrations in Ibb

In a sweeping crackdown, the Houthi militia, recognized as a terrorist organization, has initiated a series of abductions in the Al-Saddah district of Ibb province. This aggressive move targets activists and organizers planning to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.

Crackdown on September 26 Revolution Celebrations

Local sources report that under the leadership of Ali Al-Washli, appointed by the Houthis as the security director of Al-Saddah district, the militia kidnapped 11 residents on Tuesday. The detainees, accused of arranging a celebration for the upcoming anniversary of the revolution, include local market vendors, one of whom is identified as Ali Al-Majzoub, a spice seller.

This recent wave of kidnappings follows a previous incident where four individuals from the village of Al-Masqayah were abducted under similar pretenses. The militia accused them of preparing for the annual celebration, a tradition honoring one of the most prominent leaders of the September Revolution, Ali Abdulmughni.

Intimidation and Restrictions Ahead of National Celebrations

Ahead of this year’s September Revolution celebrations, the Houthi militia has intensified its efforts to suppress participation through a campaign of abductions targeting activists in the city of Ibb. The militia has also summoned some individuals, contacted others, and issued threats of imprisonment to deter them from joining the festivities. Additionally, directives have been issued to ban any celebratory events in schools across the province.

Ibb Prepares for Celebrations Despite Threats

Despite the militia’s attempts to quell the spirit of the revolution, the city of Ibb and other districts are gearing up for significant celebrations. Residents have begun displaying national flags on their homes and businesses, while celebratory demonstrations continue to unfold on various social media platforms.

This crackdown comes at a time when the community seeks to honor its national heritage and the legacy of the September 26 Revolution, demonstrating resilience in the face of attempts to suppress their cultural and historical celebrations.
