Al-Hudaydah, Yemen – Dr. Hassan Taher, the Governor of Al-Hudaydah, officially reopened the Abu Zahr tourist corridor in Al-Khawkhah today. This reopening follows years of closure due to illegal construction that obstructed the waterway, leading to significant sediment buildup.
During the inauguration ceremony, which included the presence of First Deputy Governor Walid Al-Qudaimi and Military Commander Brigadier General Zaid Mansar, Governor Taher expressed gratitude for the substantial support from Presidential Council member Brigadier General Tariq Saleh. His contributions were vital in bringing this essential project to fruition. Governor Taher emphasized the project’s role in revitalizing tourism and environmental activities in Al-Khawkhah.
The governor also announced that local authorities are preparing comprehensive investment studies aimed at transforming the Abu Zahr area into an open tourist center. He encouraged business leaders and investors to seize this opportunity to develop resorts, restaurants, and recreational parks. Such initiatives will enhance Al-Khawkhah’s status as a promising coastal and tourist destination within the province.
The reopening of the Abu Zahr tourist corridor marks a significant step toward boosting local tourism and economic growth. With ongoing support and investment, Al-Khawkhah aims to attract visitors and establish itself as a key player in Yemen’s tourism sector.
