Spain’s national football team has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League after achieving their fourth consecutive victory against host Croatia, winning two to one. This match took place within Group A3 of the tournament.
Spain owes its victory to substitute player Mikel Merino, who scored both goals in the sixty-first and eighty-ninth minutes. Merino’s efforts turned the tide after Spain initially fell behind due to a goal from Ivan Perisic in the seventeenth minute.
Croatia played with ten men from the eightieth minute onward after Ivan Perisic received a second yellow card, followed by a red card for a foul on Marc Cucurella.
With this result, Spain becomes the second team to qualify for the quarterfinals, joining Portugal, who leads Group A4 with a perfect twelve points. Spain now tops Group A3 with twelve points, while Croatia remains in third place with three points, diminishing their chances of advancing.

This victory marked England’s third consecutive win, bringing their total points to nine and placing them second behind Spain. The Czech Republic, on the other hand, suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, remaining at the bottom of the group without any points.
The match featured Harry Kane, the captain of the English team, who made his one hundred twenty-fifth international appearance. The goals came from a Czech defender, Vladimir Coufal, who scored an own goal in the twenty-seventh minute, followed by two goals from Kane in the fortieth and fifty-seventh minutes.
