The Traffic Police in liberated provinces reported a staggering 11,663 traffic violations in July. These incidents resulted in the tragic loss of 51 lives and left 428 individuals injured, with 157 sustaining severe injuries. The financial impact of these accidents reached 153 million and 170 thousand riyals.

Breakdown of Traffic Incidents

July witnessed 458 traffic accidents, categorized as follows:

  • 255 vehicle collisions
  • 133 pedestrian accidents
  • 56 vehicle rollovers
  • 10 collisions with fixed objects
  • 3 falls from vehicles
  • 1 vehicle fire

Causes of Accidents

The Traffic Police identified several key factors contributing to these accidents. Excessive speed, improper loads, reckless overtaking, driving against traffic, and negligent driving were significant causes. Additionally, random parking and poor vehicle maintenance, along with deteriorating road conditions, exacerbated the situation.

Importance of Traffic Regulations

The reported violations included breaches of traffic rules, obstruction of traffic flow, and failure to adhere to safety regulations. These violations posed real dangers to road users and significantly contributed to the occurrence of accidents.

Year-to-Date Statistics

In the first half of this year, authorities recorded a total of 109,053 traffic violations. During this period, 2,630 accidents resulted in 392 fatalities and 2,841 injuries. These statistics underscore the critical need for adherence to traffic regulations to reduce accidents and protect lives and property.
