The UN signs a partnership agreement with the Humanitarian Development Program to address challenges faced by displaced persons.

United Nations Partners with Humanitarian Development Program in Yemen

The United Nations in Yemen has signed a partnership agreement with the Humanitarian Development Program, an initiative of the Hail Saeed Anam and Partners Charity Foundation. This collaboration aims to address the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and support early recovery initiatives for vulnerable communities across Yemen.

Objectives of the Partnership

The partnership seeks to advocate for resources, share data, and implement targeted interventions that align with national and international frameworks. These include the Humanitarian Response Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Focus Areas for Support

This collaboration will prioritize enhancing livelihoods, economic empowerment, and social stability. Special attention will be given to vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and marginalized communities. The partnership will work closely with Yemeni government entities to ensure alignment with national and local priorities.

Commitment to Resilience and Community Rebuilding

This partnership symbolizes a shared commitment to strengthening resilience and rebuilding the social fabric of Yemeni society through coordinated humanitarian and developmental efforts.

Insights from UN Officials

During the signing ceremony, UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Julian Harness, highlighted that IDPs constitute over 25% of the population in need, amounting to approximately 4.8 million individuals, most of whom are women and children. He emphasized that these displaced individuals endure unimaginable conditions and struggle daily to meet their basic needs.

Harness noted that this strategic partnership represents a critical step toward finding lasting solutions to internal displacement. By harnessing the potential of the Yemeni private sector and leveraging the deep local interventions of the Humanitarian Development Program, alongside the technical expertise of the UN, innovative community-led solutions can emerge to support displaced Yemenis and marginalized communities toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Commitment from the Charity Foundation

Mohammed Abdul-Wasi Hail, Managing Director of the Hail Saeed Anam and Partners Charity Foundation, reaffirmed the joint commitment to Yemen’s recovery and the collective effort to address the needs of the Yemeni people. He stated that this partnership with the UN marks a significant step toward achieving sustainable development and dignity for all Yemenis, especially those who have suffered from displacement and systemic vulnerability.

This partnership represents a hopeful initiative aimed at improving the lives of those affected by conflict and displacement in Yemen, fostering a path toward recovery and resilience.
