The Supreme Judicial Council convened its regular meeting today in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. The session, led by Council President Judge Mohsen Taleb, focused on the judiciary’s requirements regarding annual bonuses and judges’ rights. This meeting followed directives from the Presidential Leadership Council after their recent discussions with the Supreme Judicial Council.
During the meeting, the council approved several significant personnel changes. Judge Mona Saleh Mohammed Abdu will now serve as the head of the Women and Children Division at the Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, Judge Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Sheikh and Judge Khulood Mohammed Hussein Ahmed will join the Coordination and Follow-up Division at the same office.
The council also assigned several judges to new roles. Judge Mohammed Abdullah Saleh Dweihan will take on the responsibilities of Deputy Attorney General for the Specialized Primary Criminal Prosecution in Shabwa, while Judge Fikri Salem Abu Bakr Al-Dweila will assume the same role in Al-Mahra. Furthermore, Judge Waseem Abdullah Ahmed Al-Somali will work at the Al-Wadiah Primary Court in Abyan, and Judge Ali Salem Ali Saleh will join the Public Funds Prosecution in Abyan. Other transfers include Judge Taha Abdulhamid Mohammed Farhan to the Specialized Primary Criminal Prosecution in Marib, Judge Abubakr Ali Salouma Al-Qumairi to the Al-Ghayda Primary Prosecution, and Judge Marwan Mohammed Muthna Thabit to the Shahn Primary Prosecution in Al-Mahra.
The council approved the retirement of one judge at his request. Additionally, the council reviewed several appeals and made appropriate decisions regarding them.
The council also reviewed and approved the minutes from its previous meeting, ensuring continuity in its operations and decisions.
This meeting underscores the council’s commitment to enhancing the judicial system in Yemen, addressing the needs of judges, and ensuring the effective administration of justice.
