On Tuesday, Abdul Rahman Sheikh, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, met with Rashid Hamad, the Deputy of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Yemen. The meeting took place in Aden, the temporary capital, and focused on strengthening collaboration and improving mechanisms for food security analysis.
During the meeting, which included the presence of Aden’s First Deputy Governor, Mohammed Shadhli, and Food Security Analysis Unit Program Officer, Maeen Salam, participants discussed data sharing and information exchange. These efforts aim to enhance humanitarian interventions and alleviate the living burdens faced by citizens.
In a separate meeting, Abdul Rahman Sheikh also engaged with Hassan Bartou, the Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The discussions included several proposed environmental initiatives, such as a preliminary feasibility study to improve the environmental conditions in Al-Hasswa Reserve. This project aims to mitigate negative environmental impacts, enhance treatment systems, and promote sustainability while protecting both the population and natural resources.
Governor Sheikh emphasized the importance of partnerships with UN organizations in supporting environmental efforts. He expressed the local authority’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for the success of programs and projects that improve environmental quality and safeguard public health.
