Transitioning from Emergency Aid to Sustainable Support: A Focus on Local Needs

Today, Ahmed Lamlas, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, met with Leila Ahadi, the Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) office in Aden. The discussion centered on strategies to shift from emergency support to sustainable assistance, along with enhancing the program’s outreach to targeted communities.

Meeting Highlights

The meeting also included Intisar Murshid, the Director General of the Planning and International Cooperation Office in Aden, and Reda Hajeb, the Governor’s Advisor on Humanitarian Affairs. Participants reviewed the current operations of the WFP and outlined plans and mechanisms to improve community service. They focused on viable methods to transition from emergency aid to a more sustainable support system.

Strengthening Coordination

Both parties agreed on the importance of enhancing communication and coordination between the local authorities and the World Food Programme. This collaboration aims to refine operations and prioritize initiatives that directly address the needs of the local community.

The discussions mark a significant step towards ensuring that the support provided by the WFP evolves to meet the long-term needs of Aden’s residents. By fostering this partnership, both the local government and the WFP aim to create a more resilient and sustainable framework for aid delivery.
