The Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, praised the deep historical and fraternal relations between the Republic of Yemen and the State of Kuwait. These ties are based on strong bonds of solidarity, mutual support, and shared destiny.
During a meeting today with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Yemen, Falah Al-Mutairi, Al-Barakani expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s longstanding support for the Yemeni people over the decades. He highlighted Kuwait’s contributions in developmental and humanitarian aid across vital sectors such as education and health. This support exemplifies Kuwait’s genuine role and its enduring humanitarian and developmental outreach, reflecting its commitment to brotherly ties with Yemen under various circumstances.
Al-Barakani discussed the ongoing Houthi escalation and the violations and crimes committed by the militias against civilians. He pointed out the siege and repeated indiscriminate shelling of the city of Taiz by the militias, which target residential neighborhoods with Iranian-made missiles. This aggressive behavior reveals the militias’ strategy to intimidate civilians, especially after their failure to break the spirit of the city and subdue its brave defenders from the armed forces, security, and popular resistance.
The Speaker emphasized that Taiz, representing a national and republican asset, has shown remarkable resilience against the armed Houthi project. The citizens of Taiz continue to stand firm against tyranny and oppression.
Al-Barakani strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist attacks targeting the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He affirmed that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are fundamental to the security of Yemen and the Arab region. Any threat to the holy lands and the sanctities of Muslims affects the collective conscience of the Islamic nation, necessitating solidarity against any actions that threaten their sanctity or security.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Mutairi reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering support for the legitimate government in Yemen. He emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to standing alongside the Yemeni people and continuing humanitarian and relief assistance through accredited channels. Al-Mutairi reiterated Kuwait’s dedication to maintaining its humanitarian and developmental role while strengthening its fraternal relations with Yemen, aiming to serve the interests of both brotherly nations and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis while achieving security and stability.
