Sheikh Sultan Al-Burkani Launches Water Projects in Taiz

On Saturday, Sheikh Sultan Al-Burkani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, inaugurated four water projects in the Al-Mashawalah area of the Al-Mafer district in Taiz Governorate. This initiative is part of a broader inspection tour that included various developmental and service projects in the region.

Al-Burkani was joined by several key figures during his tour. These included Ahmad Al-Sanwi, the Director General of the district; Judge Mansour Al-Qabati, the head of the Al-Mawaset and Al-Mafer courts; and Ridwan Saeed, the Director of the Education Office. Additionally, several local leaders and community figures participated in the event.

Importance of Strategic Water Projects

During the inauguration, Al-Burkani emphasized the need for continued implementation of water projects based on well-studied strategic plans. He highlighted the importance of drilling and rehabilitating wells and connecting them to modern distribution networks. These efforts aim to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens and provide essential services.

Acknowledgment of Contributions

Al-Burkani praised the efforts of contributors and international organizations. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of local citizens with relevant authorities to overcome challenges, especially given the exceptional circumstances the country is currently facing.

Overview of the Projects

The total cost of the inaugurated projects reached $357,500, which included:

  • Al-Darajah Well: This well reaches a depth of 230 meters and has a production capacity of 30 cubic meters per hour. It is supported by a solar energy system with a capacity of 79 kilowatts, serving the villages of Al-Asdoh, Al-Masabal, and Al-Anbuh.

  • Al-Asha Well: Also at a depth of 230 meters, this well produces 36 cubic meters per hour and is equipped with a 75-kilowatt solar energy system provided by UNDP, covering the areas of Al-Mansirah, Al-Mafashaqah, and Qayta Al-Jabal.

  • Al-Sind Well: This well, at a depth of 180 meters, has a production capacity of 33 cubic meters per hour and is supported by an 80-kilowatt solar energy system from Save the Children.

  • Public Works Project: This initiative funded the installation of water pumping equipment and connected it to a distribution network spanning 1,450 meters. It also included the construction of the Al-Mubara tank and a 2,660-meter pipeline to serve three villages.

Additional Visits

The tour also included a visit to Al-Dhanib Well and an inspection of the Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid Model School for Girls in the Khafarah area of Qayta Al-Jabal. Furthermore, Al-Burkani inaugurated the Al-Mashawalah Youth and Cultural Club sports field.

This initiative marks a significant step towards improving water access and overall community welfare in the Taiz region.
