Prime Minister Calls for National Energy Conference to Boost Electricity Sector

In a significant move to enhance Yemen’s electricity sector, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has directed preparations for a National Energy Conference. The conference aims to rally international support and funding for the government’s electricity strategy, which seeks to establish sustainable solutions for energy provision. This initiative recognizes electricity as a fundamental driver of economic and social development while promoting the use of renewable energy alternatives.

Collaboration with the Private Sector

During a recent Ramadan gathering in the temporary capital of Aden, Prime Minister bin Mubarak emphasized the importance of collaboration with the national private sector. He urged stakeholders from the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, the Public Electricity Corporation, and Aden Electricity to work together in organizing the conference. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for a comprehensive action plan that aligns with the government’s goals to expand generation capacity and renewable energy initiatives. He pointed out Yemen’s unique resources and the potential for local and international partnerships in this sector.

Addressing Immediate Energy Needs

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak updated participants on the outcomes of the Supreme Energy Council meeting. He stressed the urgency of translating these decisions into actionable plans to meet the electricity demands for the upcoming summer in Aden and other liberated provinces. The Prime Minister called for a unified effort, urging all ministries and relevant entities to fulfill their responsibilities and hold accountable any shortcomings in performance. This approach aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing accountability and transparency.

Plans for Summer Preparedness

Minister of Electricity and Energy, Mani’ bin Yamin, along with other ministry officials, presented their strategies for preparing for the summer electricity needs. They outlined plans to improve power stations, maintain networks, and ensure the timely supply of fuel to meet the sector’s requirements. Commitment to Reform and Efficiency

The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of implementing these plans and transforming them into reality. He called for a review of the traditional methods currently employed in the electricity sector and urged the completion of genuine reforms. Dr. bin Mubarak emphasized the need for a different operational approach to elevate the sector’s performance and address existing challenges at all administrative and technical levels.
