Prime Minister Emphasizes Importance of Engaging Yemeni Diaspora in National Development

Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak highlighted the significance of linking Yemeni expatriates to their homeland. He described these individuals as valuable assets that require attention and empowerment to contribute to the country’s reconstruction and development. During a recent dialogue seminar organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Aden, he urged the ministry to prioritize this issue to foster communication and integration with these exceptional talents, recognizing them as Yemen’s true wealth.

A Promising Start for the First Scientific Student Conference

The Prime Minister made these remarks while participating in a seminar titled “Importance and Dimensions,” part of the preparatory events for the First Scientific Student Conference scheduled for April 21-22. He conveyed greetings from President Dr. Rashad Alimi and other council members, expressing their hopes for the seminar to yield recommendations that would ensure the success of the upcoming conference. He expressed his enthusiasm for the seminar, viewing it as a promising launch for the conference, which brings together distinguished academics, researchers, and participants interested in higher education and scientific research.

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak thanked the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for this innovative initiative, which represents a serious step toward enhancing graduate programs and developing scholarship pathways. Minister Highlights Conference Goals and Challenges

Minister of Higher Education and Technical Education Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi confirmed that the seminar aims to highlight the objectives and importance of the conference, which will feature a wide participation of elite researchers and academics from within Yemen and abroad. He noted that the judging committee received over 150 scientific papers, of which 58 were approved for presentation during the conference across various scientific themes.

Addressing Research Challenges in Yemen

Al-Wasabi pointed out the challenges facing scientific research in Yemen amid current circumstances, emphasizing the need to create an encouraging environment for continuous creativity and innovation across various fields. He mentioned that the ministry announced the results of the national university ranking in March, which included scientific research as a key evaluation criterion, accounting for 40% of the total score. He stressed the importance of enhancing partnerships between higher education institutions and the private sector, advocating for a joint strategy to fund and support scientific research aimed at addressing economic and social issues.

Engaging Discussions and Presentations

The seminar featured several presentations, including “Ideas and Vision for the First Scientific Student Conference” by Dr. Abdullah Al-Dheefani, “Requirements of Businessmen from Scientific Research and Graduate Studies” by Engineer Ashraf Mohammed, and “The Role of Scientific Research in Guiding Graduate Programs” by Dr. Huda Basalim and Dr. Salim Bamsoud. Additionally, discussions on “The Role of Migrant Competencies in Serving Development” were conducted via Zoom, along with a presentation on “The Role of Scientific Publication in Enhancing Academic and Research Excellence” by Dr. Jamal Al-Ramsi, among other contributions.
