President Rashad Alimi Meets UK Ambassador to Yemen

On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif. This meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing the current national and regional issues affecting Yemen.
Discussing Bilateral Relations and Regional Security
During the meeting, President Alimi and Ambassador Sharif discussed the ongoing threats posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia to international peace and security. They emphasized the importance of collaboration between Yemen and the UK to counter these challenges effectively.
Humanitarian Support and Economic Recovery
Ambassador Sharif presented indicators of a coordinated British plan aimed at rallying international support. This initiative seeks to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, enhance livelihoods, and bolster economic recovery. Additionally, it aims to improve public services for citizens.
Strengthening Humanitarian and Developmental Efforts
President Alimi praised the strong bilateral ties between Yemen and the UK, highlighting the UK’s humanitarian and developmental interventions across various sectors. He stressed the urgent need to increase this support, especially in light of the catastrophic impacts of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping.
Commitment to Strategic Partnerships
In conclusion, President Alimi reaffirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to develop a constructive strategic partnership with the international community.
