Presidential Leadership Council Discusses National and Regional Developments

On Wednesday, the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), led by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, convened to discuss the latest developments in both national and regional contexts. The meeting included council members Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Othman Mujali, and remotely connected members Aidarus Al-Zoubaidi and Faraj Al-Bahsani. However, members Sultan Al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, and Abdullah Alimi were absent with valid excuses.

Review of Recent Meetings and Economic Challenges

During the session, President Alimi and council members received briefings on various issues and tasks assigned to them. They reviewed the outcomes of their recent meetings with regional allies and international partners. The discussions focused on mobilizing urgent interventions to support the national currency, implement comprehensive reforms, and enhance government efforts to secure essential services and goods. These actions aim to alleviate the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

Urgent Economic Rescue Plan Required

The council emphasized the need to expedite the approval and implementation of an economic rescue plan. It called for increased governmental efforts to meet the state’s obligations, strengthen law enforcement agencies, and support the independence of the Central Bank in managing monetary policy.

Review of Previous Decisions and Future Actions

Additionally, the council listened to a summary of its previous decisions and directives, as well as coordinated actions with relevant authorities. They made several other decisions concerning the items on their agenda.

Support for Ceasefire in Lebanon

The PLC welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire that took effect in Lebanon early Wednesday. The council expressed hope that this agreement would lead to a comprehensive halt of Israeli aggression and usher in a new era where Lebanese citizens can focus on building a fully sovereign national state, free from the control of armed militias.

Yemen’s Stance on Regional Aggression

The council reaffirmed Yemen’s position against the brutal Israeli aggression on Lebanese and Palestinian territories. It reiterated its support for Lebanese sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and the empowerment of the Lebanese army to maintain control over its national territory. The PLC emphasized the importance of resisting expansionist projects within the region.

This meeting highlights the PLC’s commitment to addressing pressing national issues while also engaging with broader regional dynamics.
