On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi welcomed Gabriel Monera Vinales, the Head of the European Union Mission, and Hubert Beier, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen. The meeting focused on the current situation in Yemen, addressing various pressing issues.
During the discussions, the leaders examined the local conditions across multiple levels. They specifically highlighted the economic and financial challenges stemming from the halt in oil exports due to Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes. These attacks have severely impacted humanitarian conditions and living standards in Yemen.
The conversation also covered the ongoing economic, financial, and administrative reforms led by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. These reforms receive essential support from regional and international partners. The ambassadors discussed the necessary European interventions to bolster the Yemeni economy and to increase humanitarian and developmental commitments across various sectors.
President Alimi informed the European ambassadors about the latest developments in Yemen, particularly regarding the Houthi militias’ violations of human rights. He emphasized the destructive effects of these actions on the national economy and the opportunities for a dignified life for Yemenis.
The meeting included the presence of Major General Saleh Al-Maqalih, the Director of the Office of the Presidential Leadership Council.
This dialogue underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing Yemen’s ongoing crises and highlights the commitment of the Yemeni leadership to implement necessary reforms.
