On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, alongside council members Engineer Mohammed Al-Shadadi and Dr. Mohsen Basora. The meeting focused on recent developments in the political, economic, and service sectors, as well as necessary measures to strengthen state institutions.
During the meeting, President Alimi highlighted the current local developments, particularly the economic situation. He discussed fluctuations in currency exchange rates and the prices of essential goods. The President emphasized the government’s efforts to expedite the implementation of an economic rescue plan. Additionally, he outlined the policies and measures aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the Houthi militia’s attacks, which are supported by the Iranian regime, on oil facilities and international shipping routes.
President Alimi shared the outcomes of his recent discussions with regional allies and international partners. He addressed urgent interventions needed to stabilize the national currency, implement comprehensive reforms, and secure essential services and goods. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from the Saudi-led Coalition, particularly from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Their assistance has been crucial for the Yemeni people, especially in maintaining the national budget to meet essential obligations, including employee salaries and the provision of basic goods and services for millions across the country.
The President also received a briefing from Speaker Al-Barakani regarding the House of Representatives’ activities over the past period. The Speaker reported on the findings of various committees concerning the performance of the executive authority and the overall conditions in the country. Furthermore, he outlined the council’s plan to resume sessions and the agenda for the upcoming legislative session.
The meeting concluded with the participation of Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the President’s Office, and Hatem Bamahraz, Director of the Speaker’s Office, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to address Yemen’s pressing challenges.
This meeting represents a significant step towards fostering unity and cooperation among Yemen’s leadership to navigate the ongoing crises and work towards a more stable future.
