Kuwait Meeting Focuses on Support for Development Projects

Dr. Waed Badhieb, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, met today with Walid Shumlan Al-Bahr, Acting Director General of the Kuwaiti Development Fund. The meeting addressed various topics related to available financing options aimed at supporting development projects in Yemen.

Key Topics of Discussion

During the 54th session of the Arab Economic Development Conference held in Kuwait, both parties reviewed essential projects and necessary procedures. They emphasized the importance of expediting invoicing processes, particularly for consultancy services, studies, and tender documentation. Additionally, they discussed oversight and monitoring of project implementation, specifically focusing on the Marib Power Plant and Al-Shahr Port projects. The conversation also touched on the completion of required documentation for a hospital project that has qualified for further study.

Acknowledging Kuwait’s Role in Development

Dr. Badhieb expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s significant contributions to Yemen’s development efforts. He highlighted the importance of engaging youth in various projects and plans across the country. He urged for the management of rights and the utilization of expertise to ensure the successful completion of project applications, which would ultimately enhance local capacities and achieve developmental goals.

Commitment to Supporting Yemen’s Development

The Acting Director General of the Kuwaiti Development Fund reaffirmed his commitment to providing comprehensive support to Yemen. He agreed to the request from the Secretary of Planning and International Cooperation for grants and designs for priority projects. This collaboration aims to strengthen Yemen’s development initiatives and foster sustainable growth.

In conclusion, the meeting underscored the ongoing partnership between Yemen and Kuwait, focusing on enhancing development financing and project implementation to address the pressing needs of the Yemeni people.
