Today, Mohammed Ayed, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for the Industrial Sector, held a virtual meeting with representatives from the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ). The meeting featured Marcela Maziark, the GIZ Cooperation Advisor at the German Embassy in Yemen, and Sebastian Schliebusch, the Project Manager for Private Sector Development and Employment Promotion. The discussion aimed to explore coordination methods and strengthen collaborative efforts.
During the meeting, which included Deputy Minister Ali Al-Sharafi, participants reviewed the opportunities and challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They emphasized the need to create a supportive environment and provide necessary training to enhance the efficiency of these businesses. The discussion also highlighted the importance of improving technical coordination between the Ministry of Industry and GIZ. This collaboration would facilitate the exchange of information and expertise, leading to the development of training programs and workshops designed to support entrepreneurs in project management. Additionally, the possibility of offering grants or low-interest loans to SMEs was examined.
The meeting also focused on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and GIZ to support the implementation of the national strategy. This collaboration aims to improve living conditions, create job opportunities for youth, and achieve the Ministry’s strategic goals in supporting the industrial sector and fostering national economic growth. By working together, both parties hope to make a significant impact on the local economy and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs.
